Foreign tourism and air tickets affected inflation in August

The annual inflation in the Yaroslava region increased in August 2024 to 8.62% after 8.32% a month earlier. Its value was lower than in the Central Federal District (9.47 per cent). The reasons for price changes are analysed in the monthly information and analysis material of the Bank of Russia.

The main reason for the acceleration of inflation in the region is the increased costs of food producers and suppliers, as well as high demand.

For example, in the food segment, the costs of labour, raw materials and transport increased among producers and processors. Therefore, in the annual comparison of drinking milk, solid and semi-solid cheese increased more than a month earlier. Similarly, the costs of raw materials and logic for animal feeders have increased. Cost-sharing has led to higher dry feed prices.

Demand for air tickets increased in August, resulting in an increase in the cost of air tickets after the fall in July. The depletion of the rouble during the last month of the summer has resulted in an increase in annual travel to Egypt, OAE and selected South-East Asian countries after their costing months earlier.

At the same time, the demand for new markings has declined, resulting in a slowdown in the prices of light vehicles in general.

" Domestic demand continues to outstrip production opportunities. Reducing inflation requires further tightening of monetary conditions”, noted by the Deputy Governor of the Jaroslav branch of the Bank of Russia, Eugenia Eframov.
