In Russia, the number of applications for registration of brands increased by one third in the first quarter
The number of applications submitted for registration of trademarks under the national procedure by Russian claimants was almost 32,000, a 33 per cent increase over the 2023 period. In comparison with 2022, the increase was 78 per cent. This was reported to journalists by Yuri Zubov, head of the Federal Intellectual Property Service (Rospatent), at the International ERA IP Quorum Conference, Creative Property: Intelligent Economy.
" The total share of Russian trademark applications is 86.6 per cent. In the first quarter, more than 20,000 trademarks were registered and the increase to the same period in 2023 was 14.9%. Among registered trademarks, growth in Russian claimants +15.3 per cent explained Zubov.
The most popular segments for the registration of trademarks, according to him, were clothing and footwear (21.8 per cent), software, electronics (17.4 per cent), household chemistry, perfume and cosmetics (13.9 per cent), printed products and office supplies (11.8 per cent), conditer, bakery, flour and cereals (11.0 per cent).
