The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the Basic Opinion Foundation and Sber reviewed the operation of the SME sector following the third quarter of 2024. The results are presented in a joint study by Russian mediators: research monitoring.

" Now, the Ministry of Economic Development focuses on the qualitative growth of the SME sector. The main challenge is to increase the contribution of small and medium-sized businesses to economic indicators. It is important that more companies refer to the supply segment, the real sector. It is equally important that the average life of the company and its proceeds increase. As a result of the study, we see that business is ready for qualitative growth. The tenth part is expanding its case, while another 22 per cent is planning to expand in the next six months. More than half of the Russian entrepreneurs maintain the sustainability of their business, more than 3.5 million SME entities, was reported by the Deputy Minister for Economic Development of Tatiana Ilumshnikov.

Over the past year, the financial position of 40 per cent of businessmen has not changed and 18 per cent have been able to improve it. 60 per cent of entrepreneurs exclude business closures in the near future.

The best is in the service sector, which is less problematic and more optimistic about the future (46 per cent versus 38 per cent).

The study showed that entrepreneurs continued to attract funding in their businesses. For example, 46 per cent of the respondents used some funding instruments over the last year. Young entrepreneurs were more often asked for money (53 per cent).

Bank loans (62 per cent of all those who received funding) remain the most popular way to attract funds. Leasing (22%), investment (16%) and personal funds (14%). 5 per cent of respondents applied for public or private grants, 4 per cent applied factoring.

The project " Mediators of Russia: Research Monitoring " is designed to examine the views of citizens employed in the small and microbusiness segment. Research among entrepreneurs is carried out quarterly, among the population every year. The polls are attended by 2,200 Russians.
