Ministry of Economic Development: Women ' s participation in high-technology economic sectors should be supported

Women ' s theme and gender equality are high on the CIS agenda. The participating countries recognize the importance of the role of women in the socio-economic development of the region and are working together to increase their participation in all spheres of life, especially in high-technology industries.

The Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation with the CIS countries of the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Russia, Anna Pova, said that during the fourth Eurasian Women ' s Forum, Women for Confidence Building and Global Cooperation, in St. Petersburg.

The Forum, which is more than 2,000 people from 126 countries, discussed relevant issues relating to the new directions of women ' s entrepreneurship, the possibilities of the modern labour market and the most appropriate forms of women ' s participation in the international economy.

In Russia, she said that women in high-technology businesses were provided with financial support through subsidization and grant support programmes, the " Digital professions " programme for the free training of women in IT applications, the " Scocococo " fund provided grants and investments to women-headed start-ups.

The Director of the Department of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia emphasized the special role of the project " Women in High-technology Industries: New Opportunities " , which works on the Eurasian Women ' s Forum platform. The project brings together women experts from industrial companies, academic institutions and professional communities seeking joint initiatives to increase women ' s participation in high-technology industries and to create tools to promote women ' s professional development.

One of the initiatives of the project, " Women in the nuclear industry " , will, in the future, form a professional and sectoral women ' s community and a women ' s business cooperative in the nuclear industry.

The Forum ' s business programme included a meeting of the International Council for the Support and Development of Women in Industry and Technology " Women ' s International Strategy for Vocational Development in High Technology Industries " , which was attended by representatives from Armenia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, South Africa, the Republic of Ghana, Russia, Serbia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Mongolia, the Kingdom of Morocco and others.
