A representative of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia participated in the expert events of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC), which took place from 12 to 25 August 2024 in Lima, Peru.

At the meeting of the Political Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation, participants discussed priority areas for cooperation in the short and medium term, reviewed scenarios for the reorganization of the working mechanism to enhance its effectiveness. The focus groups focused on promoting the transfer of technologies from the academic to the practical sector of the economy, analysing the prospects for the transition to an open science model.

The political partnership on women and the economy of APEC included economic aspects of women ' s sport, women ' s entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence and other digital tools for women ' s economic empowerment.

" Supporting women ' s entrepreneurship is an important part of our Ministry ' s work, the Director of Nikita Kondratyev ' s Department emphasized. - We are offering a range of support measures, including educational programmes and advisory services, integrated concessional lending solutions, facilitated tax reporting procedures. All these measures are implemented under the auspices of the National Strategy for Women, until 2030. "

The event also presented the outcome of the project, which was initiated by the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and the special projects of the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of the Russian Federation. The aim of this work is to examine barriers and prospects for women ' s participation in the creative economy. A consolidated report is being prepared and will take stock of the June seminar with the participation of members of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), as well as representatives of Russia, Peru, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.

The meeting of the APEC Economic Committee focused on the interim outcome of the APEC Enhanced Structural Reform Agenda on Competition Markets, Business Facilitation, Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Development. Among other things, participants shared experiences on solutions to facilitate the provision of public services by the State.

As Nikita Kondratiev noted, “partners have once again demonstrated interest in Russian experience in the digitalization of public services. More than 340 million services were e-mailed last year, 100 million more than 2022. Today, more than 87 per cent of certificates, social benefits and benefits are available online. At the same time, the digital ecosystem is constantly improving, literally daily, in order to reduce the timing and improve the quality of public services. "

The series of meetings set out the challenges facing APEC in the run-up to the Forum Leaders ' Week, which will be held in Lima, Peru, from 10 to 16 November. A key outcome of the year is expected to be the harmonization of the road map for the transition to a formal economy. The document will include measures to increase the confidence of informal businesses in public institutions, create and support a favourable competitive environment, increase access to finance, markets and technology, and social protection measures.

At the same time, arrangements are planned for regional integration, hydrogen energy development and sustainable financing.
