The study showed an increase in the number of self-employed in Russia

The number of self-employed entrepreneurs in Russia increased in 2023 compared with the previous year, and their turnover increased, but the average check in this area decreased. This is evidenced by the UKassa study, which was introduced by the TASS.

"In 2023, the total number of self-employed people connected to UKassa rose by 33 per cent, their turnover increased by 38 per cent, the number of payments accepted by 80 per cent and the number of payers by 34 per cent a year. The average cheque dropped by 23 per cent, to 934 roubles, which is covered in the study.

The number of self-employed men increased by 55% and 22% respectively in 2023. Similarly, there is a trend in turnover: growth was 52 per cent and 28 per cent respectively. However, the total annual turnover of self-employed women was 45 per cent higher than that of men. The average check for women decreased by 5 per cent, to 1,366,000 roubles, 34 per cent for men, to 640 roubles.

"The reduction of the average check can be explained by the fact that self-employed people who only enter the market often place lower prices for their goods and services. So they can sell more goods and hire a loyal audience, explained by the head of the E-Commerce YuMoney Nikita Savelev, the words of which were delivered to the company press service.

Regions and self-employed segments

According to analysts, in 2023 the number of self-employed persons increased three times in each region in Dagestan, Twe and Chechnya. They are followed by Chitinsk (plus 84%), Orlovsky (plus 83%), Kurgan (plus 81%), Kaliningrad (plus 70 per cent) and Murmansk (plus 67 per cent). In Moscow and St. Petersburg, self-employed persons accounted for 27 per cent and 20 per cent more respectively.

"In the categories where self-employed people work, the most part of the clothing has grown for men and women. The turnover of such payments has quadrupled in the year, noted in UKassa.

At the same time, a marked increase in the number of self-employed entrepreneurs was observed in the digital segment (payments were doubled from 2022), children ' s goods (plus 93 per cent), domestic machinery and electronics (a 58% increase).

"In the form of self-employed men, tourism has become popular. This segment increased by 33 per cent over the year, payments increased by 25 per cent and payments by 28 per cent. There are more self-employed women in advertising. In a year, their number increased by 57 per cent, the turnover increased by 6.5 times and the number of payments received by 53 per cent, noted in the company.
