Name of the fastest growing industries of SMEs in Russia in 2023

In 2023, Internet trade (e-commerce), advertising and tourism entered the fastest growing industries of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This is reflected in the results of a study of the Calltouch Monegasque Marketing Platform, the Business Bank of the Point and the online rerouting platform hh.ru, which was introduced on 28 March.

The experts reviewed the development of IAS in the country over the past year and updated the Russian Business Health Index. The year ended with 61.5 points out of 100.

The Internet trade showed the fastest recovery rate. The Russian business health index in this industry was 55 points (+25 points compared to 2022).

" There were many new players on the e-commerce market in 2023 - according to our data, 30 per cent more IPs and Internet traders than in 2022. Their turnover increased by 41 per cent a year. The emergence of new stores has led to an increase in the number of recruitments that have shown an increase of 34 per cent over the past year. She noted that large areas were becoming increasingly technological in the market. In addition, she said that the market for electronic commerce was growing at the expense of niche areas, independent Internet stores.

According to experts, the Russian Business Health Index in the advertising industry was 56 points (+22 points compared to 2022). Advertisements have increased their use of analysts, data management, artificial intelligence in advertising and consumer communication. Advertising and marketing agencies increased by 12 per cent a year. Demand for their services increased: the total number of applications increased by 134% in 2023.

“The bright industry is rapidly growing for several reasons. First, new brands have been introduced into the market and consumers need to be involved in order to secure the freed niche. Second, business became more active in marketing technology, analyst, Big Data, testing new communication channels with the consumer. Another drive for industry development has been the boom in marketing processes. In addition, in 2023 the Russian business health index for the tourism industry was 57 points (+14). Tourism companies have grown by 22 per cent. Internal tourism became the driver of industry development, and experts clarified. Regions compete for tourists, improve infrastructure, propose new routes and projects, develop different directions. Tourism agencies have stepped up their progress to enquire about new routes as many travellers as possible.

" Over the past year, the tourism industry has increased by 40 per cent. Several factors contribute to this. In the past year, the number of new tourism agencies registered increased by 5 per cent. The labour market in the tourism industry and the growing interest of Russians in domestic travel and new directions. The competition for tourists has also involved localities that have not recently been associated with travel and recreation. The study stated that " the analysis of small and medium-sized business development over the past year showed that the Russian economy as a whole had met the challenges of 2022 " . Experts stressed that the turnover of companies was increasing for most industries. Thus, the number of applications increased by 12 per cent in the market as a whole. But despite the growth of Russian business in general, some industries have deteriorated. In 2023, the telecommunications industry (15 points by year), medicine (-13), culture (-10) showed a positive development trend in the ISA.
