Ministry of Economic Development: investments in tourism exceeded 800 billion rubles in 2023

Business investments in the tourism industry amounted to more than 800 billion rubles last year, which is one third higher than in 2022.

This result was largely made possible thanks to the support measures provided within the framework of national projects, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov said at a meeting with the President on the creation of federal year-round seaside resorts.

"Investment activity is growing. The business has invested more than 800 billion rubles in the industry. A third more than in 2022. 12.5 thousand new numbers were introduced, the growth for the year is plus 10%," Maxim Reshetnikov said.

The Minister noted that the increase in the number of rooms today is largely due to measures to support the national project "Tourism and the Hospitality Industry", curated by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

For example, thanks to the President's decision to allocate an additional 11 billion rubles under the program of subsidizing the construction of modular hotels, the coverage of support was increased. This program has already supported 18 thousand rooms in 66 regions of the country. 4.5 thousand of them have been introduced, the remaining ones will be introduced by the end of the year.

In addition, the hotel business is supported by the national project "Small and medium-sized Enterprises", which is supervised by First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov.

In 2023, thanks to concessional lending and umbrella guarantees of the SME Corporation, entrepreneurs attracted more than 24 billion rubles of credit funds, which is almost twice as much as in 2022.

In his Message to the Federal Assembly, President Vladimir Putin outlined a goal: by 2030, to increase the number of tourist trips around the country by almost two times, to 140 million. In 2023, 78 million tourist trips were made in Russia, which is 21% more than in 2022.
