The Federation Council will support the construction and reconstruction of major road facilities in the Yaroslavl region

A team of the regional Government headed by Governor Mikhail Evrayev presented major road projects in Moscow today as part of the Days of the Yaroslavl Region in the Federation Council.

During the extended meeting of the Committee on Economic Policy, support was received for work to increase traffic lanes from two to four of the M8 highway from the border of the Vladimir region to the village of Petrovsky and bring the R132 Golden Ring highway into a standard condition, as well as measures to build a third bridge in Yaroslavl and transport interchanges.

- To ensure the construction of the third bridge across the Volga is an instruction from the President of Russia, which was given already during a special military operation, in August 2022, to the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Yaroslavl Region, – said Governor Mikhail Evraev. – Serious work has already been carried out, a technical and price audit has been carried out at the expense of the region. We are completing the design and expect to receive a positive conclusion from Glavgosexpertiza in the summer and go to auction. The financing of the bridge is indicated in the budget in 2025 and 2026. There is still a small amount there – about 2 billion rubles. Of course, it needs to be increased. In general, we are constantly in touch with federal agencies.

The Yaroslavl Region participates in all programs of federal authorities with a road orientation. So, in 2024, the region continues to restore roads at the expense of infrastructure budget loans, attract federal budget funds for the development of rural areas and the implementation of the national project "Safe high-quality roads".

One of the key issues of the discussion concerned the development of the M8 federal highway in the region, which provides transport links between Moscow and seven constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The section from the border of the Vladimir region to the village of Petrovsky in the Yaroslavl region is characterized by accidents due to high traffic intensity and small width of the roadway.

The Government of the Yaroslavl Region, together with the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, is working on the issue of doubling the number of traffic lanes on this segment of the federal highway to four. The possibility of building a bypass of settlements on the 115th – 135th kilometers is also being considered. The design and estimate documentation has been prepared, the conclusion of the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia and the support of the state company Avtodor have been received.

The second federal road passing through the territory of the Yaroslavl Region (P132) is the route of the Golden Ring, connecting the Kostroma, Yaroslavl, Tver regions and other regions of the Central Federal District. Currently, some areas are in an abnormal state. Thanks to the support of Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin, federal budget funds are being allocated for the restoration of worn-out pavement layers, but a large amount of work remains to be done.

The development of domestic tourism, and by the end of 2023, more than 9 million people visited the Yaroslavl region, determines the high social importance of federal highways for the region. In general, the restoration project includes seven sections of federal highways requiring an increase in traffic lanes from two to four, with a total length of more than 125 kilometers.
